Why am I still charged when my instance is shut down?
Edited
Shutting an instance down powers off the operating system, but the GPU stays reserved for you, so billing continues at the full hourly rate, and any attached storage keeps billing too. Shutdown is meant for maintenance tasks (like attaching, detaching, resizing, or cloning a volume), not for cost saving. To actually stop compute charges, delete the instance.
